Biography

Born September 13th 1981, Ryan Yard is a Composer and Pianist living and working in South Wales. His music has been played by world class performers including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Mavron Quartet and Emperor Quartet as well as the PM Ensemble, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama amongst others.

His music combines a love for melody and harmony, musical elements that stem back to the rock music he grew up listening to, and a distinctive contemporary language that both challenges and engages his listener. In works such as 'Lamentation' for full Orchestra, we hear the emotion and drama of film music whilst in others, such as 'The Chamber' we are engulfed by a dark and visceral landscape both beautiful and terrifying.

As a performer, Ryan plays regularly at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay as well as St David's Hall with concerts of original piano music that embraces and enchants the listener.

Alongside this work, Ryan is currently training for his QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) which will lead him into teaching and allow him to share his love and passion for music with others.
